MARCH 25, 2011 NOTE: It is amazing when I go back and listen to the first podcasts that I ever did. In this show, I talk about how manners do matter at work, and how leaders can get younger workers to engage at the workplace. I also give the younger workers their due…but remember, as much as you may want to be the boss, if you aren’t the boss, then you will probably benefit from learning to deal with your boss.

Awesome comments about becoming a CIO.
What would you suggest to someone wanting to keep the option open of management in the future but it doesn’t really interest them at this point? It seems like the points you mentioned are more than relevant for someone wanting to move up now or the near future. What would you do to keep a “foot or toe in the water” so to speak?

The balanced presentation of serious subject matter while keeping the overall pace and tone upbeat is a tricky one.
Another great show!

I think your podcast was put together well and your thoughts were concise. I tend to disagree with you a bit on what seems to be a “my way or the highway” mentality regarding younger workers. Younger workers are, and will continue to be an asset to the workforce, and management will need to learn to deal with their quirks such as the need for constant reinforcement. It is amazing to me how young workers are mistreated in the workforce.
